Vacation and lessons learned

I have just returned back to work after spending two weeks with the Flock. Wow what an amazing time!

When you are holding that tiny little blessing in your arms and standing in front of the Church for the dedication you really don't fully have any idea what you are getting yourself into. You have no idea that these little blessings are going to grow up and that God is going to place a call on their lives for them to serve Him. You pray that they will come to know Christ at an early age and that the life they live will glorify Him. As they run around during AWANA and recite the verses that you worked on that week you have no idea that those very verses will have such an impact on them that they will not only accept Christ but will decide to follow him no matter where that leads.

God blessed us with six of the most amazing children this world has ever seen. Six totally distinct personailities, likes, dislikes, opinions, and passions. Each one brings a unique version of life that you are never bored.

Over the past two weeks I was constantly reminded that we serve a truly amazing God. A God that in spite of our weaknesses and rebellion only wants the very best for us. One night I watched as all four of our grandsons played and even though they are spoke different forms of english they understood perfectly what each one was saying. That is how God is with us too. He speaks to us in many ways; thru His Word, His Spirit and His People and we all understand. It was then that I was reminded that I need to pay more attention when God speaks or I may be missing out on a really exciting opportunity. In my prayer life instead of constantly telling God my wants and needs I just need to be quiet and listen. He will tell me what He has next for me.

My goal over the next week is to go find a quiet place, away from the noise of the world, and just wait on what God has to tell me. I am not sure I will want to hear all of it but I know that if I want to have the same joy that my grandsons had playing I have to at least try.
